Description

Introduction (I) Product Features:

This is a plant watering alarm module. Place it in the soil near your plants, and it will emit a faint chirp to remind you to water the plants when the soil becomes dry.
The module uses capacitive humidity sensing, meaning it has no electrical contact with the soil. This avoids electrode corrosion and soil electrolysis, thus improving measurement accuracy and extending battery life.
As water is consumed by the plant, the module will detect low moisture content and start emitting short chirps. As more water evaporates, the module will increase the alarm frequency.
The module can detect whether it is day or night by measuring ambient light levels. At night, it will disable the buzzer alarm and switch to an LED flashing alarm instead, so no noise is produced.

How to Use:

Install the battery (note the polarity!):
This module uses a 3V CR2032 lithium coin cell battery (Note: Battery is sold separately). The battery can theoretically power the module for one year, depending on how often you water your plants. When inserting the battery, the module will emit a short chirp. After the measurement is complete, it will briefly flash the LED and emit another short chirp, indicating the device is working normally. It will immediately measure the humidity level of its "large capacitor" and save it as the "dry point" (the humidity alarm threshold).
Reset Button:
The button on the top of the device can reset the "dry point". You can place the module in the soil you consider dry (note: do not insert it deeper than the maximum depth line). Press it, and the module will emit a short chirp and flash the LED. Release your hand after hearing the second sound, and the module will save this as the new "dry point". Try not to shake the module when pressing the reset button. After pressing the button, do not touch the device, plant, or pot. The module needs time to measure the moisture content without interference.
When the soil is too dry, the module will emit sound, flash the LED, and measure ambient light—this consumes the most power. So remember to water your plants when the buzzer chirps or the LED flashes. Do not splash water onto the module when watering.

Troubleshooting:

  1. If the soil is already very dry but the module is silent, carefully press the button without shaking the module, wait 5 seconds, then water the plant. This will set a new "too dry" threshold for the module.
  2. If the module starts beeping when the soil is still too wet, pull the module slightly out of the soil (about 1 cm / 1/2 inch), press the button, then place it back. Firmly press the soil around the device.
